  This Sir John Scudamore was usually styled "of Abergavenny." He also held Rowlstone, but probably lived there for only brief intervals. According to traditional Welsh pedigrees of this family, he married Alice, a daughter of Robert Ewyas. Their sons and a part of their grandsons were sometimes "alias Ewyas", apparently in this Alice's right.
