Biography
Margaret (Margery) de Brewes was born circa 1260 at Stainton Manor, Norfolk, England, the daughter of Sir Richard de Brewes and Alice le Rus.

She married Sir Roger de Coleville, 2nd Baron Colville, son of Walter de Coleville and Isabel/Elizabeth, circa 1276.

Order to deliver to Margaret, late the wife of Roger de Coleville, tenant in chief of the king as of the honour of Albemarle, the following of Roger's lands, which the king has assigned to her in dower: the manor of Conythorp, a member of the manor of Bitham, the wood called ' Morkelawe,' with the meadow, herbage and all appurtenances, in the same manor, the wood called ' La More,' with the meadow, herbage and all other appurtenances, in the same manor and rent in Estbitham, which is a member of the manor aforesaid. Total value of land yearly assigned approx 70/.
7 May 1290 Westminster. To Henry de Bray, eschaetor this side of Trent. Order to cause dower to be assigned to Margaret, late the wife of Roger de Colville tenant in chief.
24 May 1290 Westminster. Assignment of dower to Margaret, late the wife of Roger de Colevill, of the knights' fees that belonged to Roger by Master Henry de Bray, escheator this side Trent, by the king's writ. There are assigned to her three quarters of a fee that Ralph de Sancto Laudo holds in Cunesby, co. Lincoln. Also the eighth of a fee that Robert Walran holds in Estbitham, in the said county. Also a fee that Laurence de Preston holds in Somerdeby, in the said county.
12 May 1335. Order to William de Clapham, escheator in the counties of York, Northumberland, Cumberland and Westmoreland, to take into the king's hand the lands late of Margaret late the wife of Roger de Colville, deceased, tenant in chief.

8 July 1335. Order to William de Clapham, escheator in the counties of York, Northumberland, Cumberland and Westmoreland, pursuant to an inquisition made by him shewing that Margaret late the wife of Roger de Colville held in her demesne as of fee the manor of Ayketon, county Cumberland, with certain tenements in Burgh on Sands pertaining thereto, in chief by homage and the service of rendering 27s a year at the Exchequer of Carlisle at the Assumption for cornage, and that Robert de Coleville, knight, her kinsman, is her next heir and of full age, to deliver the premises to him, he having done homage.

Roger Colville. And whom had issue Esmond Colville and two daughters Elizabeth and Alice. Esmond had one son Robert Colville at Bitham. And Elizabeth was the late wife to Basset of Sapcote the grandfather of Mons. Ralph Bassett de Sapcote. And Alice was late wife to Mons. Guy Goband the younger and from whom Alice had John Goband, Guy Goband, Elizabeth Goband, and Mabel Goband. John Goband died without heirs in regards to which Guy his brother sold his inheritance to Mons. Robert Colville. Elizabeth was the late wife to [blank] John Wykes?. And Mabel was the late wife to William Lampet who had many issue and ...illegible... afterwards said Dame Alice was the late wife to John Gernon the elder of whom he had issue Mons.
