  Robert Fitzmadoc, Knight, is recorded as a juror at the Salop Assizes in 1203. He is also recorded as acting as surety for Robert Corbet, Baron of Caus (probably his brother-in-law) in 1209 in case of forest trespass by the latter.
  As Robert would not have been charged with these responsibilities as a minor, he must have been born well before 1180 and possibly as early as 1170.
