ALIX [Aline] (-24 Apr, before 1141). Guillaume de Jumièges records that one illegitimate daughter of King Henry I married "Matthæo filio Burchardi de Montemorenceio"[291]. Duchesne dates the marriage to 1126 but cites no source which provides the basis for this statement[292]. The necrology of Saint-Victor, Paris records the death "VIII Kal Mai" of "Alina uxor Mathei de Montemorenciaco"[293]. m (1126) as his first wife, MATHIEU [I] de Montmorency, son of BOUCHARD [III] Sire de Montmorency & his first wife Agnès de Beaumont-sur-Oise (-1160). He succeeded his father as Sire de Montmorency in [1130/32]. Constable of France.

She married in 1126 (as his 1st wife) MATHIEU DE MONTMORENCY, seigneur of Montmorency, Attichy, Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Manly, etc., Constable of France, son and heir of Bouchard de Montmorency, seigneur of Montmorency, Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Epinay, Feuillarde, Hérouville, Saint-Brice, etc., by his 1st wife, Agnès, daughter of Yves, Count of Beaumont-sur-Oise. They had five sons, Henri, Bouchard [seigneur of Montmorency], Thibaut, Herve, and Mathieu [seigneur of Manly]. His wife, Aline, died 25 April, before 1138. He married (2nd) in 1138 ALIX (or ADELAIS) OF SAVOY, widow of Louis VI, King of France [see FRANCE 5], and daughter of Humbert III, Count of Savoy and Maurienne, Marquis in Italy, by Gisele, daughter of Guillaume I, Count of Buruundy. She was born probably in 1092. They had no issue. In 1153 his wife, Alix, retired to the church of the Abbaye de Saint-Pierre at Montmartre, which she had founded. His wife, Alix, dowager Queen of France, died at Montmartre 18 Nov. 1154, and was buried in the abbey church of Saint Pierre, Montmartre. MATHIEU DE MONTMORENCY died 22 October 1160.

iv. JULIANE OF ENGLAND, married in 1103 EUSTACHE DE PACY (or DE BRETEUIL), seigneur of Bréteuil and Pacy, illegitimate son of Guillaume, seigneur of Bréteuil and Pacy, by an unknown mistress. They had two sons, Guillaume and Roger, and two daughters. In 1119 he took part in the rebellion against King Henry I, who besieged his wife, Juliane, at Breteuil. She fled to Pacy, and in the autumn of 1119 Eustache and Juliane were pardoned by the king. A few years later she became a nun at Fontevrault. MABEL OF ENGLAND, married before c.1125 GUILLAUME GOUET (or GORT), seigneur of Montmirail and Alluyes, son and heir of Guillaume Gouet, seigneur of Montmirail, Alluyes, Authon, la Bazoche-Gouet, Brou, and Château-du-Loir, by his wife, Eustachie Crespon. They had one son, Guillaume [seigneur of Montmirail]. He joined his parents and his brothers, Robert and Matthew, in the foundation of the Priory of St. Giles des Chateigniers as a cell of Tiron. In 1114, as William Gouet junior, he was one of the nobles of Thibaut, Count of Chartres, whom the count called to advise him. In 1116, with his father and mother, he gave judgment in a dispute between the abbey of Marmoutier and Gaston de Brou. As "Guillaume Goët le jeune," he witnessed a charter of Guillaume de Mesmerand to the leproserie of Chateaudun c.1120. He succeeded his father before c.1125. He made an agreement c.1125 with the Prior of Saint-Denis de Nogent regarding the churches of Ceton and Saint-Ulphace. He likewise gave c.1125 to the monks of Saint-Denis the church of Unverre that Gaston de Brou gave them and that his mother Eustachie unjustly retained; for which gift he received 10 livres and his wife, Mabel, 100 sous. About 1127 he witnessed a charter of Ives de Courville, by which he quitclaimed his land in Courville to Thibaut IV, Count of Blois. In 1136 he granted various privileges to Tiron Abbey. He was born about 1077. They had no issue. By an unknown mistress, he had an illegitimate son, Malcolm. He became King of Scotland in 1107 on the death of his elder brother, Edgar, King of Scots. He and his wife, Sibyl, founded the monastery of Scone in Perthshire in 1113-14. He was also a benefactor to Durham and Dunfermline. He invaded Wales in summer 1114, in cooperation with King Henry I of England. His wife, Sibyl, died suddenly at Loch Tay 12 July 1122. ALEXANDER I, King of Scots, died at Stirling 23 April 1124, and was buried before the great altar at Dunfermline, Fife near his father.
