There is a big problem with the ancestry of William Ludlowe [RIN 247], so much so that Seversmith (source 1c) devotes many pages of his book (pp. 2,123 - 2,131) in trying to show that "Sir William de Ludelowe and Roger, or Robert de Ludelawe are fictitious" and the "challenge proof of the correctness of the pedigree as printed". Yet source 1b has him listed, so, until the matter is settled ("The writer will consider himself fortunate if this challenge is taken up by our English friends". {source 1a}), I have included the questioned genealogy. 3. Nicholas - appointed in 1276 by Edward I, one of the special proctors to receive 4755 British Pounds, 17 shillings for wool exports to Holland.
