Nicholas II de Stuteville (born c.1191, younger son of Nicholas I by his1st unnamed wife), Lord of Cottingham (East Riding of Yorkshire) andLiddel (Cumberland, in the Borders), married Devorguilla of Galloway(daughter of Lord Lochlann Roland de Galloway, and part of her dower was Whissendine (Rutland). He eventually entered the Priory of St. Andrew(York), where he died 1233. Devorguilla died some time after 1241. Joande Stuteville (1st daughter & eventually sole heiress of Nicholas II)married 1. (before May 1229, without licence Hugh Wake , died on a Crusade (1241); then 2. (by 1244) Hugh Bigod, Chief Justiciar of England (son of Earl Hugh of Norfolk).
