They claimed Richard FitzUrse, their Ancestor, held that land & had a son Reginald & 2 daughters Margery & Mabel - Reginald who suceeded to Worle, who had a daughter Matilda, who had a son William Courtenay, who died reign of King John, no issue, it descended to said Margery , grandmother of said Veil & Mabel mother of Roger ---- They say that Elias Beauchamp only had entry to the said land by William Cantilupe, who had entered the land during the civil war ;
ELIAS Beauchamp come & defends his right : he says that a Certain GEOFFREY Limesi hald the land as his wight & he had a son Walter & 2 daughters Beatrice & MATILDA - GEOFFREY granted that land to Beatrice in Marriage with Reginald FitzUrse,on condition that if she dies without heirs, the land would revert to said MATILDA & her heirs The land descended to her son ELIAS Beauchamp he was asked who was the heir of said GEOFFREY Limesi ; Elias said Walter Beauchamp, who is in Normandy, & he doesn't know if he has any son or not;
VEIL & ROGER say that Reginald inherited that land from Richard his father & Moreover, ELIAS can;t have to claim, because he has an older brother ANDREW Beauchamp, who had heirs;
ELIAS recognised that his mother MATILDA had several older sons, WILLIAM the Eldest, John & ANDREW, but because Elias was the youngest son without land, they granted Him thier claim to Worle
