1176 - he owed the balance of a debt for forest trepass, the Sheriff of Essex & Hertfordshire rendered account of 65s for the issues of
Rainham, being land of FULK Paynel & 2 years later the sheriff paid 16 for the farm of Rainham which had belonged to
FULK Paynel & Warin Halla (Fulk's step father)
1180 - FULK Paynel rendered account of 1000 marcs, of which he paid 200 by the hand of Gilbert de Vere, for a fine of the honor of
Bampton
1185 - Fulk had fled (because he was in debt) & the sheriff of Devon accounted for the farm of his lands since his flight & his chattles sold.
1187 - Fulk Paynel & his brother William, witnessed Gervase Paynel's confirmation charter to Tickford Pirory
1199 - he rendered account of 1000 marks for having the Honor of Bampton
Feb 1207 - Fulk Paynel was at the hearing of a plea in which the Prior of the Hospitalers claimed against the Abbot of Lessness
concerning the Advowson of the Church of Rainham, Essex
when he warranted to the abbot the Church & Charter he had granted
The Prior claimed - that the advowson belonged to the manor which the bretheren had received from Gilbert Ver, that
which Warin de la Haule, husband of Juliana, who was mother of Fulk & heir of the manor, had presented
a rector to Gilbert Foliot, Bishop of London & that FULK, Juliana's son & heir, sold the manor to Gilbert Ver,
for homage & service, he produced Fulk's charter to Gilbert - issued at Oxford 1179,
in which FULK undertook to make an exchange of the land at Huntspill & Bridgewater, if he could not warrant the
manor of Rainham
