Pedro Rodríguez de Guzmán (muerto el 19 de julio de 1195 en la Batalla de Alarcos), fue un ricohombre castellano, miembro de la casa de Guzmán como hijo de Rodrigo Muñoz de Guzmán y de Sancha Díaz. Fue mayordomo mayor del rey Alfonso VIII de Castilla y destacado miembro de la curia regia.
Contrajo matrimonio alrededor de mayo de 1174 con Mahalda cuando el rey Alfonso VIII de Castilla, con motivo de la boda les donó la heredad de Prado con el río Reocín. Mahalda pudo ser una hija de Guillermo VIII de Montpellier, o de Manrique Pérez de Lara,aunque no figura como hija de este último en la documentación. De este matrimonio nacieron:
Nuño Pérez de Guzmán quien ostentó la jefatura de la casa de Guzmán y confirma un documento el 31 de marzo de 1196 en el Monasterio de San Juan en la ciudad de Burgos como Nuno Petret, filio Petro Royz de Guçman.8 Estuvo con sus hermanos Teobaldo y Guillén en la Batalla de las Navas de Tolosa;
Guillén Pérez de Guzmán, el padre de Mayor Guillén de Guzmán, amante del rey Alfonso X el Sabio con quien tuvo a Beatriz de Castilla, reina consorte por su matrimonio con el rey Alfonso III de Portugal.
Teobaldo Pérez de Guzmán, llamado Teobaldo de Blazón en la Crónica latina de los reyes de Castilla, «casado al otro lado de los Pirineos y fue uno de los pocos caballeros ultramontanos que no desertó antes de la Batalla de las Navas de Tolosa».
Tuvo también dos hijas, María y Teresa. Ambas fueron monjas en el Monasterio de Santa María la Real de Las Huelgas en Burgos. Una de ellas, era la viuda de Rodrigo Sánchez, hijo de Sancho Díaz de Haro y sobrino de Lope Díaz I de Haro, señor de Vizcaya. Rodrigo Sánchez también murió en la Batalla de Alarcos junto a su suegro, según consta en la Crónica latina de los Reyes de Castilla al mencionar algunos de los fallecidos en dicha batalla: Petrus Roderici de Guzman et Rodericus Sancii, gener eius.

Elvira Gomez" as the children of "El Conde D. Gomes de Mançanedo", recording in an earlier passage that "D. Pedro Roiz de Guzman" married "D. Elvira Gomez de Mançanedo"[1229].

"Dompnus Petrus Roderici de Guzman et uxor mea dompna Mahalt" donated property "in Ribiella del Campo" to the monastery of Las Huelgas de Burgos, as well as "filiabus nostris Teresie Petri et Marie Petri", by charter dated Feb 1194[1230]. She married secondly (after 1195) as his third wife, Pedro Manríque de Lara Señor de Molina y Mesa Vicomte de Narbonne. Alfonso VIII King of Castile confirmed the purchase of property at Tragacete made by the council of Cuenca from "comitissa domna Mafalt, quodam uxore comitis Petri, et de Gonzalvo Petri, filio suo et eiusdem comitis" by charter dated 3 Feb 1202[1231].

Note: Pedro Rodríguez de Guzmán (c. 1135 – Battle of Alarcos , July 19, 1195 ) , was a wealthy Castilian man , member of the house of Guzmán , chief steward of King Alfonso VIII of Castile, and prominent member of the royal curia .
Biographical sketch
A Castilian nobleman, he was the son of Rodrigo Muñoz de Guzmán and Mayor Díaz, daughter of Diego Sánchez and his wife Enderquina Alvárez and sister, among others, of Toda Díaz, married to Gutierre Fernández de Castro . The first appearance of him in medieval documentation was in November 1167 when his brother Álvaro Rodríguez de Guzmán named him along with the other brothers; Fernando, Rodrigo, Urraca, María and Teresa Rodríguez de Guzmán. He was appointed mayordomo to King Alfonso VIII of Castile in April 1194. He and his wife Mahalda were benefactors of the Las Huelgas monastery in Burgos . to which they donated numerous assets and estates such as Revilla del Campo , in Hontoria de la Cantera , in February 1194. They were also patrons of the monastery of San Salvador de Oña and in 1193 they donated several properties in Zumel , Miñón , and Mansilla to this monastery. in Burgos . On June 21, 1189 he appears selling to the abbot of the monastery of Santa María de Rioseco some estates and one of the currencies that had belonged to his brother Rodrigo de él.
Pedro Rodríguez de Guzmán died in 1195 fighting in the battle of Alarcos where many nobles died, including his son-in-law Rodrigo Sánchez.
Marriage and offspring
He married Mahalda around May 1174 when King Alfonso VIII of Castile , on the occasion of the wedding, donated to them the estate of Prado with the Reocín river. Mahalda could be a daughter of Guillermo VIII of Montpellier , or of Manrique Pérez de Lara , although she does not appear as the daughter of the latter in the documentation. From this marriage were born:
Nuño Pérez de Guzmán who held the headship of the Guzmán house and confirms a document on March 31, 1196 in the monastery of San Juan in the city of Burgos as Nuno Petret, son of Petro Royz de Guçman . He was with his brothers Teobaldo and Guillén in the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa ;
Guillén Pérez de Guzmán , the father of Mayor Guillén de Guzmán , lover of King Alfonso X the Wise with whom he had Beatriz de Castilla , queen consort by his marriage to King Alfonso III of Portugal .
Teobaldo Pérez de Guzmán, called Teobaldo de Blazón in the Latin Chronicle of the Kings of Castile , "married on the other side of the Pyrenees and was one of the few ultramontane knights who did not desert before the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa."
He also had two daughters, María and Teresa. Both were nuns in the monastery of Las Huelgas in Burgos. One of them was the widow of Rodrigo Sánchez, son of Sancho Díaz de Haro and nephew of Lope Díaz I de Haro , lord of Vizcaya . Rodrigo Sánchez also died in the battle of Alarcos together with his father-in-law, as recorded in the Latin Chronicle of the Kings of Castile , mentioning some of those who died in said battle: Petrus Roderici de Guzman et Rodericus Sancii, gener eius .
