=== Life Sketch ===
The de Bois (Bosco) family can be traced to a feudal estate of Breteuil on lands other both sides of the River Risle in south Normandy. They were one of the baronial families that dominated the region. Their family seat was at Bois-Arnault in Normandy. Both Arold I de Bois and his son Arold II were active in the politics of their region. Arnold II gave his support to Robert de Beaumount, second Earl of Leicester, and was rewarded by the earl with a grant of the manor of Thorpe Arnold and other estates in Leicestershire, including Brentingby, Evington, Humberstone and Elmesthorpe. He also was granted the manors of Clifton-on-Dunsmoor and Shrewley in Warwickshire. Arnold II de Bois and his descendants served the earls of Leicester in both England and in Normandy.
