Ruy González de Ceballos II era primogénito de Gonzalo Díaz de Ceballos, camarero mayor de Fernando IV y alcalde mayor de Hidalgos de Castilla, y Antonina de la Hoz. Casado con María Fernández de Caviedes, señora de Caviedes, Lamadrid y La Revilla en Valdáliga, ocupó destacados cargos en la Administración territorial castellana, como alcalde mayor de Toledo y adelantado mayor de Murcia. Su hijo, Diego Gutiérrez de Ceballos, fue nombrado maestre de Alcántara tras la muerte de Fernando Pérez Ponce de León, pues “que era un grand caballero e querielo al rrey grand bien”, el 13 de septiembre de 1355.
