  Jeremiah P. GROAT, the seventh son of Peter Groat (40) and Maria Cornicker (Kernichen), was born November 19, 1797, and christened "Jeremiah Grad" at the Reformed Church of Claverack, December 24, 1797. Sponsors at the christening were "George Adam Deter" and "Gertje Grad" (126). Census records indicate that Jeremiah P. Groat moved to Newark withJacob P. (145) and married, around 1730, to Mary Ann (last name unknown They had, again according to census records, five children. Jeremiah P. is buried in the old Main Street Cemetery, according to the cemetery records, but these same records do not indicate in which grave heis buried.
