John married before November, 1254, Millicent de Cauntelo, the daughter of William de Cauntelo of Calne, Wiltshire, and his wife, Eva de Briouse, as a ''writ'' was issued to the sheriffof Wiltshire on 18 November 39 Henry III [1254] regarding Sir Williamde Kalna alias de Cantilupo, and an ''Inquisiton'' held in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire found in Eyton manor all the rents of 19 hides were assigned by Sir William de Cantilupo to John de Montealto, with his daughter.
John died after October 1265 and his widow, Millicent de Monte-alto, married before 13 December, 1273, Eon la Zouche.
