  Catherine GROAT, the daughter of William P. Groat (143) and Hannah Shufelt, was born March 23, 1821, and christened at Christ's EvangelicalLutheran Church of Ghent. The records of Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghent show that she married Martin C. Garner October 19, 1841, and died just two months later, December 24, 1841. The marriage was conducted at the home of the bride's father with Robert Groat (250) and Cynthia Garner in attendance. Her husband remarried to Magdelena Groat (332), the daughter of Martin Groat (225) and Sarah Crocker, born December 20, 1831. He died December 19, 1882, and his second wifedied May 3, 1912. All three are buried in Union Cemetery in Mellenville
