Annatje GROAT, the daughter of Henrich Groat (5) and Maria Catharina Dederich, was christened "Annatje Graat" at Katsbaan, on March 26, 1744. Sponsors at the christening were Frederich Dederich and his wife, "Eva Graat" (4), brother-in-law and sister of the father. She is named in the will of her father as the "Anna," wife of Petrus Philip (53). AHistory of Columbia County, New York, records that Peter Philip was among the first settlers in the part of Ghent where the Groat family settled. He was one of four brothers, the others being John, Jacob, and Wilhelmus. He was also Annaje's 1st cousin, the son of Jacob Philip and Barbara Groat (8) and christened at Red Hook Lutheran Church, February 6, 1743. Sponsors at Peter Philip's christening were Hennerich Bender and Catharina Bitzer. Records indicate that, on October 24, 1765,a NY marriage license was issued for their wedding. Annatje and PeterPhilip had seven children.
