Discussions in Rootsweb GEN-MEDIEVAL forum in 2002 and 2006 appear to support that she was the daughter of Reynold Grey and his wife, Eleanor le Strange. He held the manor of Sapperton in his demesne as of fee and enfeoffed Thomas Tuchet, parson of Mackworth, and John Tuchet, clerk, with the intention that after his death they should enfeoff his heir in fee simple when he reached full age. If no heir reached full age they should enfeoff John, brother of Thomas, on condition that he took the name and arms of John Tuchet, knight. After the grant he continued to take the issues and profits to his own use. The manor is held in chief of the lady of Castle Bytham of the castle of Bytham by knight service, annual value 40s. He formerly held the manor of Leegomery and enfeoffed Thomas, parson of Mackworth in Derbyshire, and John Tuchet, clerk, to hold in safety to his use and that of his heirs, that they might after his death enfeoff his heir when he reached full age. If he failed to reach full age they should enfeoff John brother of Thomas on condition that he took the name and arms of John Tuchet, knight. Thus the manor was held to his use and he had the issues. It is held of the castle and honour of Montgomery by knight service, being in the king’s ward owing to the minority of Edmund earl of March, annual value £40. He formerly held 2 parts of the manor and advowson of Ashwell in his demesne as of fee and the reversion of the third part after the death of Maud his mother who held in dower. He enfeoffed Thomas, parson of Mackworth in Derbyshire, and John Tuchet, clerk, in the two parts and reversion of the third, on the same conditions as in the last, with the addition that if John brother of Thomas died without heirs of his body they should found a hospital to pray for his soul and the souls of his ancestors and heirs. He held the reversion of the manor of Morton in fee simple after the death of Maud his mother and granted it to Thomas Tuchet, parson of Mackworth, and John Tuchet, clerk, on the same conditions as above [nos.599–600]. Maud died during his lifetime, and he entered, took the profits to his use and died holding it. It is held of the prince of the honour of Chester by knight service, annual value 40 marks.
