  The son of John Gannett, he was baptized on Feb. 16, 1617/18 in Charlton, Mackrell, Somerset, England and came to America about 1638 with Thomas Gannett settling in Hingham, MA first. Matthew Gannett married Hannah Andrews in Hingham, MA. He bequeathed, in his will, his estate in Bridgewater, Plymouth, MA, to grandsons, Matthew & Joseph Gannett, sons of Joseph Gannett.
  
  April 1 -- A. D. 1717 Scituate Records: Mathew Gannett of Scituate, in consideration of certain pieces of land, exchanged by Ebenezer Kent of Cohasset, also Hingham, conveyed land amounting to 2 1/2 acres, granted by Proprietors of Cohasset, in Scituate to Mathew Gannet, Jun. Executor to Mathew Gannett, also another one acre lot, granted by s'd Proprietors to Mathew Gannett, Jun., son of said Mathew Gannett, Exec'r. & contains 4 1/2 acres, lying in Scituate Beach Woods.
  April 1, 1717 Exec'r. conveyed certain parcels given by Matthew Gannett of Scituate, conveying 53 1/2 rods of land lying at Conihassett in Scituate & is the piece I bought of Elizabeth Leavitt & lies the barn of Matthew Gannett & also all my part, portion & interest in & unto all those lands, meadows, housing, & saw mill which was the estate of Matthew Gannett, father to S'd Eliz'th. Leavitt.
  
  Oct. 1, A. D. 1712 Scituate Records: "Eliz'th Leverett of Scituate, only surviving daughter of Mathew Gannett of Scituate, decased in consideration of 20 pounds paid by Ebenezer kent of Scituate, conveyed 2 acres 53 1/2 rods of land lying at Conihasset, in Scituate, being piece of land which my hon'd mother Hannah Gannett purchased of Mr. Thomas Jenkins of Scituate. Also my share in those lands, meadows, housing and saw mill which was the estatae of my father Mathew Gannett of Scituate, deceased, being same land or tenement on which said Ebenezer Kent now dwells & has had the use of improvement of for several years past, also all other lands which were the estate of my father at the time of his death or all reversions. & remainders thereunto belonging.
