  Brian Lewis believes her maiden name was TRACY. However, neither The Griswold Family (Griswold Family Association, 1935) nor Edgar John Bullard, Bullard and Allied Families, 1930 offers a maiden name for her.

  From "Bullard Family Background," NEHGR 154:178: That the Mary who was "widow Grissell" who married William Bullard was shown in a deed from Jonas Palmer and Elizabeth Palmer, both of Rehoboth to William Bullard of Charlestown, 9 Nov 1655 [3]. Francis Grissell died in Charlestown on 2 Oct.1652. Therefore the marriage of William Bullard and Mary Grissell occurred between 1652 and 1655; the date of 4 Jan 1653 is found in Dean C. Smith,"Ancestry of Eva Belle Kempton," [note 2], p. 205.

  William Bullard's wife was neither Grissell or Griswold. First Griswold was an error. Second, Mary was the WIDOW of Francis Grissell (not Francis Griswold). Therefore, her LNAB should be Unknown.[1]

  On 9 November 1655 "Jonas Palmer and Elizabeth Palmer of Rehoboth" sold to William Bullard, for a consideration part of which was to be paid to "Hannah Grissell daughter of Francis Grissell of Charlestown aforenamed deceased," land in Charlestown "by the last will and testament of the said Francis Grissell deceased given and bequeathed unto the said Elizabeth Palmer.[2]

He settled first at Watertown, later at Dedham, and moved to Cambridge about 1638. His will dated 5 Jul 1679, gives his age as about 85 years. William died 23 Dec 1686. George Greswold, son of Roger, was christened 6 Nov 1574 in Wooton Wawen, Warwickshire, England. George died 1623. He marrid (1) Dousabel (Leigh?) about 1606. She was born about 1575. Dousabel was buried 28 Aug 1615 in Wooton Wawen, Warwickshire, England. They had one child:
   Page: P. 48-49. In America, after 1636, Francis married (2) Mary [___?___]. Francis settled at Cambridge, Suffolk, Massachusetts where he had a land grant in 1636; was also a proprietor at Charlestown; freeman 1645. He had a land grant of two acres for his work and services among the soldiers. Reference is made to “Francis Grissell” in the calendar of state papers (Minutes of a Committee for Providence Plantation) as having applied in England from July 1635 to February 1636 for remission of cost of transportation for himself and wife to New England. They had four children: Elizabeth, born about 1636, died before 11 Feb 1691/1692; Mary, born 28 Aug 1639 in Cambridge, Suffolk, Massachusetts, died young; Hanna, born 3 Feb 1642/1643in Cambridge, Suffolk, Massachusetts, died in infancy Apr 1643 in Cambridge; and Hannah, born 4 Mar 1645, died 9 Jan 1690/1691.
