  John Coombs (also spelled Combes), was born around 1632 to parents John Coombs and Sarah (Priest) Coombs, daughter of Mayflower passenger, Degory Priest.[1][2]
  
  "John Combes & Elizabeth Barlow relict of Thomas Barlow were married 24th February [1661/2] by Captain Mason of Watertowne."[1][3] Elizabeth was married 1st to Thomas Barlow and had two children, Elizabeth and Sarah Barlow. She married a third time, after John Coomb's death, to John Warren and had a child Nathaniel Warren. She died in Boston Jan 1671/2.[1]
  
  John Coombs, a cooper,[4] died before the date his widow presented the inventory of his estate, 29 May 1668. The house and land and some of the estate had belonged previously to Thomas Barlow and the court ordered the house and land to be left to Sarah Barlow, giving her mother, Elizabeth, permission to use it to raise Sarah.

He owned about eight acres of land near Darbies' Fort at Nogg's Head, which he purchased from David Corwithy and Thomas Dixey. He was granted land on lot #5 of the 1648/9 division of the swamp and was chosen way warden in 1656. In 1662, the townsmen agreed to request Thomas Dixie to provide another man to help with the ferry and turn out Henry Coombs. He signed the customs petition of 1668/9 as an inhabitant of Marblehead and died in August, 1669. A jury of inquest, on August 30, 1669, found he drowned by accident, being drunk."
