Glover (glove maker). Was to be apprenticed according to his mother's will of 1592. As had his parents before him, he lived in that part of Bures St. Mary which lies south of the River Stour and is Essex county, though the parish church lies north of the river in Suffolk county. Apparently he dropped the name RIDDLESDALE and settled on LOKER which had been an alias for several generations. His widow and children used only LOKER after emigrating to New England. Will dated 22 Feb 1630, proved 15 Apr 1630, witnesses were John Isaack, Jeffrie Hust, John Parmiter. Wife and son Henry sole executors. LDS microfilm 1553696, batch F600546, sheet 38. This family went by the surname of "LOKER alias RIDDLESDALE," or "RIDDLESDALE alias LOKER." No one seems to know which is the original name. It is possible that the original name is REDYSDALE or RYDYSDALE or even REEDS- DALE. Surname also spelled LOCAR. Family group sheet from Robert B.
