  Joseph Andrews was likely accompanied by his wife Elizabeth and it is generally agreed several children were born in England. "US New England Marriages prior to 1700" indicates their first child was believed to have been born in England in 1622 but analysis of the children implies that Elizabeth was born even earlier, in 1620. Some believe Joseph may have had more than one wife, but again there is no evidence either way, just guesses due to a possible gap in the children and the range of their probable ages.
  
  With regard to Elizabeth's surname, while it is rumored to have been Hatch, none have provided evidence. The Elizabeth Hatch generally identified is the son of William Hatch of Scituate, who was born in 1598. His daughter would not have been of age to been mother to Joseph's children. Likewise there is no evidence of any other marriage that fits the necessary facts.
  
  The Andrews relocated to Duxbury for a time (see Joseph's life sketch) but then returned to Hingham.
  
  Joseph died in 1679. His wife Elizabeth and seven children were still living; all were named in his will, along with some grandchildren. There is a record that "the widow Andrews" died in HIngham on 12 August 1688.
