  GEORGE FAIRBANK was born about 1530 of Sowerby, Yorkshire, England, to Gilbert Fairbank (1500-1578) and and ***Unknown first wife*** (Not Jenette)
  
  George married first in Halifax on 10 May 1551, "Sibbell Wad" [Sibyl Wad], who died in childbirth and was buried at Halifax, Yorkshire on 21 May 1573 with her child.[1] He married secondly, 15 Feb 1573/4, Jenet (or Johanna) (Mawd) Brodlye (or Broadley) the widow of John Broadley. No record of his estate has been found, but he was living in 1599 as was his wife Jenet.[2]
  He was most likely the George Fairbank who was buried in Halifax on 29 March 1610.[1]

  Land transfers in 1526 and 1550 name Gilbert, as son of John. In 1569, 11th. Elizabeth, he would not pay the stipend of the minister or curate of the chapel. His death bed will names wife and surviving children. Will proved April 16, 1578. 1526, 19th. Henry VIII, John Fairbanke surrendered Brigbottham &c to the use of Gilbert Fairebanke, son of aforesaid John Fairebank and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten, rendering therfor yearly 48s. 9d. 1550, 5th. Edward VI. John Fairebanke and Gilbert Fairbanke, son and heir of said John, surrender one messuage, one garden and the moiety of one barn, and one croft called Laithecroft, and two closes of land and meadow called Overholme and Netherholme. 1569, 11th. Elizabeth. Gilbert Fairebank would not pay the stipend of the minister or curate of the Chapel. For this he was fined 12d.
