Biography
Andrew was born in 1494 in Lydd, Kent, England. He was the son of John Bate and Margaret (John) Bate.
Marriage
He married Margaret (Andrews) Bates in 1512 when she was 13 years old, the normal age of consent at the time.

Death
He made his made his will Feb. 22, 1532/3. In it he appoints William Tadlow and Robert Robyns his executors and states that his children William, John, Katherine, and Thomas are not twenty years of age and that Katherine is not married. He makes bequests for the high altar and the reparation of the church at Lydd, for the maintenance of 'Jesus mass,' for the purchase of two printed books called 'Antiphonacs' for the church, for dirge and mass at his burial and mont's mind mass, for dirge and mass for his wife at her year's mind mass, for himself and wife at his year's and two year's mind mass. Bequests were made to his children and to other persons of lands and tenements, of horses, oxen, kine, heifers, shoats and many ewes, of farming tools, of wheat, barley, oats and beans, of wearing apparel and beads.
