  THIS JOHN WAS BORN ABOUT 1472 in Rowington, Warwickshire, England, is the son of John Greswold, Esq. who was born about 1440. John Greswold's wife has not been identified. He died 20 Jun 1515 in Rowington. (p 17,41-42.)
  
  Children:
  Thomas, born about 1495, died 1578, married __?__, had three children (ancestors of American immigrant Francis GRISWOLD).
  Roger, born about 1504 in Rowington, died in 1545, married Margaret and lived in London, had five children.
  John, the Elder, born about 1510, died in 1583 in South Rookery, his spouse is unknown.

   Note: 16. John5 GRESWOLD (12.John7, 8.John6, 6.John5, 5.William4, 4.Richard3, 2.Ralph2, 1.John1) was born about 1472 in Rowington, Warwickshire, England. John died 20 Jun 1515 in Rowington, Warwickshire, England."?" His will was dated 9 Dec 1511. In the 1993 draft of this genealogy, Robert French had another generation in here which was omitted in the two subsequent drafts and the 1996 printing. It is now restored. 27.John9 of South Rookery who lived until 1582 must have been born pretty close to 1510. The generation which includes him, 26.Roger9, 1504-1545 and 25.Thomas9 1495-1578 seems to fit the material we have but they require a parent, a John8 who was of Rowington, but not of South Rookery. He would be the younger brother of Richard8 and their children were roughly contemporary. It is highly unlikely that their father was 8.John6 Greswold who was definitely born in 1414 (i.e. age 86 at the birth of his oldest grandchild, 15.Richard8). There are two (or three) Rowington Greswolds who were born at the turn of the century between 1490-1510 who are too young to be the children of John.6 Johns had 3 children: 25. m i. Thomas GRESWOLD, born about 1495, died 1578. 26. m ii. Roger GRESWOLD, born about 1504, died before 27 Jan 1545/1546. 27, m iv. John GRESWOLD, the Elder born about 1510, died 15 May 1583.
