  When Lady Margaret Campbell was born in 1484, in Bridgend, Argyll, Scotland, her father, Sir Archibald Gillispie Campbell 2nd Earl of Argyll, was 19 and her mother, Lady Elizabeth Isabel Stewart, was 19. She married Sir John Erskine 5th Lord Erskine 17th Earl of Mar in 1505, in Erskine, Renfrewshire, Scotland. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 8 daughters. She died on 11 July 1555, in Dumbarton, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, at the age of 71, and was buried in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, United Kingdom.
