He held a manor in Hasfield jointly with Alice his wife by the grant of Henry Yakesley and Hugh Tyldesley, made with royal licence [CPR 1399–1401, p.534], to them and their heirs male with remainder failing such heirs to the heirs of the body of Thomas and the right heirs of John Cassy of Whitfield. It formerly belonged to Edward Sent Johan, knight, and is held of the king in chief by knight service, annual value 102s.8d. He also held in right of Alice 1 a. in Stoke Orchard of the king in chief by knight service, annual value 6d.; and half the manor Coberley of Richard Chedder and Isabel his wife of their manor of Dursley, service unknown, annual value 40s. Wellington, the manor , and 3 messuages, 3 carucates of land, 20 a. meadow, 20 a. wood, 20 a. pasture, and 40s. rent in Wellington called Adzor , pertaining to the same manor, held of the king in chief by knight service, annual value £20. The manor and lands should revert to John Goldyngton , Robert Sireston , John Swanscombe , and to their heirs. He held the following in demesne as of fee, to him and his heirs in perpetuity. William Midilham, clerk, Henry Chapman, Thomas Hord, Hugh Carewe, Geoffrey Holford and John Holford, were seised of the under-mentioned moiety of a manor in fee, and, being so seised, gave it to the said Katharine Bromwiche and one Robert Mattesdon, then her husband, to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies between them begotten, with remainder in default to the heirs of his body, with remainder in default to the right heirs of John Chaundos, knight, then deceased. They were seised thereof accordingly in fee tail, by the form of the gift; and, being so seised, he died without heir of his body begotten and she was solely seised of the moiety aforesaid in fee tail by survivorship, as tenant in fee tail after possibility of issue between her and the said Robert extinct, and died so seised. The 1 a. in Stoke Orchard, the half manor of Coberley, and the manor of Eldersfield in Worcestershire were allotted to Thomas Brugge and Alice, the other daughter and heir, also of full age, by partition between them. Inquisition. Upton upon Severn. 14 Aug. The rent of 20 marks was granted by Thomas Brugge by a deed with clause of distraint. It was extinguished by her death, and cannot descend, revert or remain. One Walter de Chaundos was lately seised of the following in demesne as of fee, which he granted to Roger Chaundos and the heirs of his body, so that Roger was seised in demesne as of fee tail. He died seised of such estate. After his death the manor descended to Thomas Chaundos as son and heir of Roger, by form of the grant. Thomas was seised in demesne as of fee tail and had issue: John Chaundos , and Elizabeth, and died seised of such estate. After his death the manor descended to this John Chaundos , named in the writ, as son and heir by form of the grant, and he was seised in demesne as of fee tail. John Cornewaill, knight , John Goldyngton , Robert Sireston , John Swaynescombe , n137 John Chaunsy , and Robert Kendale entered on the possession of John Chaundos , expelled him from the manor, and disseised him. They continued their possession during the whole life of John Chaundos and received all the issues of the manor from his death until 7 November 1443, and on that day. From then until the taking of this inquisition Henry, duke of Warwick received the issues. Fownhope, the manor, annual value £20, held of William Mountfort, knight , of the manor of Snodhill, by knight service. He died without heir of his body on 16 December 1428. Giles Brugge and Robert Mattesdon are his kin and next heirs. Giles, the son of Alice, one of the daughters of Elizabeth, sister of John, is aged 40 and more.
