Wikitree:
Isabel was daughter to Levington of Saltcoats. She was born presumably about 1440 as she was still of child bearing years when she married William Ruthven in 1477.
About 1460, she married firstly Walter Lindsay second son of David third Earl of Crawford. and bore to him five sons before 1471 and a daughter Agnes.[1] Her husband died in 1475 but probably by this time she was mistress to William Lord Ruthven and by him she had to two sons, William and John who were legitimised by a Charter under the Great Seal in 1480.[2] Due to her difficult financial circumstances William Ruthen granted her in her necessity a generous sum from the lands and mill of Ruthven in 1479.[3]
Isabel also known as Elizabeth Levington married William Ruthven probably about 1480. She also had daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret by William.
She is recorded in many Charters with her spouse William Lord Ruthven in the Register of the Great Seal (Vol.2) and appears up to June 1509 when she and her husband resigned the lands of Tursappie etc to their son Sir William Ruthven and when they also made an endowment to the Chapel of St. Katherine.
