He was knighted by King James II in 1443. He and his wife Alice, had an additional charter from the superior, Archibald, 4th Earl of Douglas, confirmed by royal charter, dated Stirling, May 16, 1450. Sir David Home received from his father the lands of Thurston. He was a Knight of the Golden Order and was one of the Commissioners to treat with the English.

He was Knighted by King James II in 1448, and appointed one of the Commissioners to treat with the English in 1449. He was Knight of the Golden Order. MSS. Hist.
