She held a third part of the manor of Chilcote in dower for life with reversion to Margaret wife of Nicholas Mattesdon, daughter of Thomas, and Alice wife of Thomas Brugge, his other daughter and heir, both of full age. The manor is held of the heirs of Thomas de Erdyngton, knight, by knight service, annual value of the third part £6. She died on 4 April last. Margaret and Alice are next heirs, aged 30 years and more and 28 years and more. 43 Writ 24 April 1406. GLOUCESTER. Inquisition. Cheltenham. 10 May. She held a third part of the manors of Stoke Orchard and Coberley in dower for life with reversion as above. Stoke Orchard is held of the king in chief in petty serjeanty, annual value of the third part 40s.; the third part of Coberley of Robert Cheddre and Elizabeth his wife in right of Elizabeth by knight service, annual value 40s. She held a third part of the manor of Stoke Orchard, except 1 a., and a third part of half the manor of Coberley, in dower for life by the assignment of Nicholas Mattesdon and Margaret, one daughter and heir of Thomas Berkeley, of full age, with reversion to them; because these with the manor of Chilcote were allotted to them. The 1 a. in Stoke Orchard, the half manor of Coberley, and the manor of Eldersfield in Worcestershire were allotted to Thomas Brugge and Alice, the other daughter and heir, also of full age, by partition between them. The third part of Stoke Orchard is held of the king in chief in grand serjeanty, annual value 60s. The third part of the half of Coberley manor is held of Richard Cheddre and Elizabeth his wife in right of Elizabeth, annual value 26s.8d. Date of death as above. Who is next heir is unknown. 45 Writ 17 May 1406. WORCESTER. Inquisition. Upton upon Severn. 4 June. She held a rent of 20 marks, granted to her for life from the manor of Eldersfield by Thomas Bruge in allowance for dower from that manor. Date of death as above. Robert de Patenham, her next heir, is aged 30 years and more. 46 Writ, plenius certiorari, the reversion of the annual rent not having been stated in the last inquisition, 3 Aug. 1406. WORCESTER. Inquisition. Upton upon Severn. 14 Aug. The rent of 20 marks was granted by Thomas Brugge by a deed with clause of distraint. It was extinguished by her death, and cannot descend, revert or remain. Parties: Thomas de Berkleye of Cobberleye, knight, querent, and Edmund de Brugge, Walter de Piriton', John Philips, the parson of the church of Cobberleye, and William de Herdewyk', the parson of the church of Adreston', deforciants. Property: The manor of Cobberleye in the county of Gloucester and the manor of Eldresfeld' in the county of Worcester. Action: Plea of covenant. Agreement: Thomas has acknowledged the manors to be the right of Edmund, as those which Edmund, Walter, John and William have of his gift. For this: Edmund, Walter, John and William have granted to Thomas the manors and have rendered them to him in the court, to hold to Thomas, of the chief lords for the life of Thomas. And after the decease of Thomas the manors shall remain to Thomas, son of the same Thomas, and Julian, his wife, and the heirs of the body of Thomas, to hold of the chief lords for ever.
