=== One data base has a single William Stanl ===
One data base has a single William Stanley married to both Alice (Alicia) Hoghton and Mary Savage. Ormerod combines this William and his father into one man with two wives. The dates would permit Ormerod's version and avoids the oddity of the younger Williams having a second son at the age of 14. However, Burkes Peerage has a separate man married to each of the women. One father and one son. Keeping in mind the longevity of the day was somewhat shorter and that many of the marriages were arranged at a very young age, the youth of the father wouldn't have been such an oddity.

Author: Ormerod differs from Visitation of Chester in 1580 & Plantagenet Ancestry. He says William Stanley who married Mary Savage is same person that married Alice de Houghton. Other 2 sources show them as 2 people, father & son. Visitation appears to be most reliable since it is oldest (made in 1580) & closest to an original document.
