Patrick Ruthven was the son of John Ruthven, sheriff of Perth. [1][2] His mother's name is not provided in source.
He was probably Sheriff-depute of Perth, 9th May 1444; his father being Sheriff. He appears, along with his father, 2nd January 1451.
He is designated son of Sir John Ruthven, and grandson of Sir William Ruthven, 24th December 1458. He was knighted some time after; and as Sir Patrick Ruthven was on a jury, 6th October 1461. [3]
His date of death is not provided in source but his son was of age and acting as conservator to a truce with the English in 1484 and in Parliament as Lord Ruthven in 1487.
Family
He married a daughter of Sir Thomas Cranston, who is styled grandfather to his son and successor, 1465. They had one son:
William Ruthven, who must have been alive prior to 1465; he will become the first Lord Ruthven. [4]
