  K.Rutherford Davis (1987, pps18/19) states that John, son of Sir Robert Lauder of Bass, died in 1421, and mentons his wife, Katherine. He refers to Lauder lands at Aldcathy, Linlithgowshire, and the service of certain properties of the late Sir Robert Lauder upon John & Katherine's daughters Mariota, Beatrice and Christian. His reference is given as MS 12, App VIII, 78-9, 109, 120-1). Each of the daughters, including Marion Lauder, who married Sir Alexander Home, succeeded to a quarter of Crailing, Hownam and Swynside. Davis also quotes the Forfarshire lands of Arbirlot, Newton and Cuthlie near Arbroath as being Lauder properties which descended through Christian to the Rutherfords.
