  Biography
  Sir Thomas Peshale was the son of Sir Richard Peshale, Sherriff of Shropshire and Joan (Chetwynd) Peshale. He married (1) Philippa Bennet, and had two sons Richard Peshale, and Nicholas Peshale. He married (2) Alice Knightley, dau. of Roger Knightley and had at least 1 son, Humphrey Peshale - note his father in Richardson is Thomas's father Richard Peshale.[1]
  
  "Sometime after the death of Sir Richard, father of Thomas, it was recorded that "Thomas Peshale, Chivaler, son of Richard de Peshale, Chivaler, produced Letters Patent pardoning him." Sir Thomas de Peshall, Lord of the manors of Peshall, Horsely, bishops Offley and Chetwynd, married Phillipa, daughter of Richard Bennet de Botesle, by whom he had two sons. The elder son, Nicholas de Peshall, married Helen Malpas of Checkly and left two sons, Sir Hugh Peshal, who inherited the family Manors, and another son named William which little is known about. Sir Thomas' second son, Richard, received the Manors of Chetwynd and Bellaport and married Margaret Malpas, the sister of Helen. Richard died without a male heir, but had two daughters. Richard's daughters: Isabelle married Thomas Grosvenor who received the Manor of Bellaport which was to remain in their family for generations; and Joyce, married William Pigott, and the Manor of Chetwynd."   Married #1 Philippa Bennet, #2 Alice Knightley. Various gedcoms at Ancestry.com identify this Thomas as the father of Richard de Peshale, some with one of the wives, some with the other. Or possibly also the father of Humphrey.
