=== Life Sketch ===
SIR JOHN OGILVY OF LINTRATHEN was born about 1402 of Bridgend of Lintrathen, Angus, Scotland, to Sir Walter Ogilvie of Lintrathen (1369-1440) and Isabel Jean Durward Heiress (1380-1421.) He married Margaret Seton about 1429 of Forfar, Angus, Scotland.
John Ogilvy died about 1489 of Airlie, Angusshire, Scotland, age 87.

Children: David of Newtoun, Thomas Abbott of Cowpar, Christian Forbes of Pitsligo, Marion Stewart.
John of Ogilvie of Lentrethin, knight, was a member of the council who signed the indenture between the King and Council and Robert, Lord Erskine, made at Stirling on 10 August, 1440, giving the Castle of Kildromie, and half the Earldom of Mar to Robert Lord Erskine.[1]
MARGARET SETON was born about 1398 of Seton, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, to Lord William Seton (1349-1424) and Lady Janet Dunbar (1380-1430.) She married Sir John Ogilvy about 1429 of Forfar, Angus, Scotland.
Margaret Seton passed away about 1471 of Seton, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, age 73.

Wikitree:
It is suggested here that Margaret was born about 1410 daughter to Alexander Seaton of Gordon. (note that a generation earlier John Ogilvy of Inverquharity married Marion Seaton a daughter of Willaim Seaton of Gordon.)
Margaret is known only as Margaret, Lady Ogilvy, Countess of Moray. It thus appears that she married firstly to James Dunbar, earl of Moray who died about 10 Aug 1430. He was released as a hostage for King James I in 1427 and probably at the time he succeeded to the earldom and married on his return. It is said by MacFarlane but without confirmation that the earl married Katherine or Janet a daughter of Alexander Seaton of Gordon. It thus appears probable that Margaret was that widowed Countess.
By James Dunbar margaret had two daughters:
1. Elizabeth, (or Mary or Agnes0 who married before 26 April 1442, to Archibald Douglas, who was created Earl of Moray.
2. Janet, married, between 1442 and 1446, to James,second Lord Crichton.
After the death of her first husband, Margaret, Countess of Moray married Sir John Ogilvy of Lintrathen about 1431.
Children of John Ogilvy and Margaret Seton:
1. Mariote Ogilvy (1415-)
2. *SIR ALEXANDER OGILVIE (1416-1497)
3. Elizabeth Ogilvy of Lintrath (1425-)
4. Baron James I Ogilvy (1430-1504)
5. Isobel Ogilvy (1442-)

=== All of the people of World Connect have ===
All of the people of World Connect have this person's name as Marian. However Burke's Peerage has Marian marrying John Ogilvy, who remarried in 1447, implying that Marian had died by then; thus (barring a divorce) Marian could not have married William Baillie. Many World Connect people had the person that married John Ogilvy named Margaret (Burke's states that John's 2nd wife was a Margaret). The daughter of the Seton-Baillie marriage is name Margaret; thus I am assuming that there is a name mixup and this person, who most name "Marian" is really "Margaret". Of course Burke's could be wrong and the wife of John Ogilvy is named Margaret and this person is Marian--or Marian could have divorced (rather than dying) John Ogilvy before 1447 and married William Baillie.

PEDIGREE RESOURCE FILE, VOL 6, LDS GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY;
=== Complete Peerage has her married to Thom ===
Complete Peerage has her married to Thomas Dunbar, 3rd Earl of Moray and calls her daughter to William Seton, Lord Seton. Chronologically, it is difficult for her to have been daughter to William Seton and to have married that Thomas and then John Oglivy. Scots Peerage has her married to Thomas Dunbar, 2nd Earl of Moray and then John Oglivy, which seems more likely.

Marriages and Parents

The way in which John Ogilvy's spouse is spoken of in the Exchequer Rolls of Scotland suggests that the Countess of Moray was the widow of James Dunbar, mother of Elizabeth and Janet Dunbar. See the preface to the Exchequer Rolls of Scotland, vol VI. Exchequer Rolls, vol. VI, pp. cxxxviii-cxxxix. See: https://archive.org/details/rotuliscaccariir06grea/page/n141/mode/2up?q=
A papal dispensation request for marriage between Alexander Stewart and Margaret Seton, widow of James Dunbar, occurs in 1432. See: https://digital.nls.uk/scottish-history-society-publications/browse/archive/126160624#?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=241&xywh=-325%2C-1%2C2383%2C2881
Request makes clear that Margaret and Alexander and James Dunbar were all related. The degree of relationships only makes sense if they were all descended from Robert II and Elizabeth Mure, making Margaret's parents Alexander Seton and his wife Elizabeth Gordon. Although the name Margaret is absent and replaced by Janet or Katherine, her parentage to Alexander Seton of Gordon is affirmed by early Scottish histories.
Marion Seton, daughter of William Seton, married a different John Ogilvy, John Ogilvy of Inverquharity. For documentation and argumentation, see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Seton-414
