7. MARGARET (or MARGERY) DE SCALES, elder daughter. She married ROBERT HOWARD, Knt, of East Winch, Fersfield, Terrington, and Wiggenhall, etc., Norfolk, son and heir of John HOWARD, Knt., of East Winch and Wiggenhall, Norfolk, Admiral of the Fleet north of the Thames, by Alice, daughter of Robert de Bois, Knt. He was born about 1342 (age 30 in 1372). They had one son, John, Knt., and one daughter, Margaret. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1378-79, for detaining Margery de Nerford from her grandmother, Lady Alice Neville. SIR ROBERT HOWARD died testate at East Winch, Norfolk 18 July 1388. His widow, Margaret, married (2nd) Walter de Bermingham, Knt., of Ireland (died before 10 Feb. 1401). She left a will dated 8 May 1416. She was buried with her 1st husband in the south side of the chancel at East Winch, Norfolk. . . . . .

He was born about 1372 (aged 16 in 1388, aged 19 1/2 in 1391). They had one son, JOhn, Knt. [3rd Lord Clifton], and one daughter, 'Elizabeth'. He was summoned to Parliament from 13 Nov. 1393 to 20 Nov. 1394. CONSTANTINE DE CLIFTON, Esq., 2nd Lord Clifton, died 19 Feb 1395/6. His widow, Margaret, married (2nd) (as his 3rd wife) GILBERT TALBOT, Knt., of Richard's Castle, Herefordshire and Wadley, Berkshire (died 6 Feb. 1398/9). They had one son, Richard. She died 25 March 1434, and was buried at Black Friars, Norwich. . . . . .

ELIZABETH DE CROMWELL, married JOHN DE CLIFTON, Knt., of Buckenham, Babingley, Denton, Hilborough, West Bradenham, etc., Norfolk, son and heir of Constantine de Clifton, of Buckenham, Norfolk, by Katherine, daughter of William de la Pole, Knt. He was born about 1353 (aged 15 in 1368). They had one son, Constantine, Esq. [2nd Lord Clifton], and one daughter, Katherine (wife of Ralph Greene and Simon Felbrigg, Knt.). He was summoned to Parliament from 1 Dec. 1376 to 28 July 1388, by writs directed to Johanni de Clyfton, whereby his is held to have become Lord Clifton. SIR JOHN DE CLIFTON, 1st Lord Clifton, died at Rhodes 10 August 1388. His widow, Elizabeth, married (2nd) EDWARD BENSTED, Knt. She died 24 Sep 1391. . . .
