The manor (extent given), held of the bishop of Chester by service of rendering a sore sparrowhawk at the gule of August. William his son, aged 30 years, is his next heir. LEICESTER. Inq. Monday after the Ascension, 4 Edward III. Boseworth. The manor with Carleton and Cotyn (extent given), including 4s. 8d. yearly rent of free tenants at Osbertston, pertaining to the said manor, held of the king, by reason of the lordship of the manor of Wythewyke, late of Henry de Bello Monte as of the right of Alice his wife, and now in the king’s hand by the forfeiture of the aforesaid Henry, by service of a knight’s fee, and a pair of gilt spurs, price 6d. or 6d. yearly at Christmas. Nailiston. 16l. 13s. 4d. yearly rent from free tenants and bondmen, with the farm of a windmill and a meadow, held of Philip de Columberes, as of the right of Eleanor his wife, by service of 2s. yearly. Cotes by Morton or Cotyn. A yearly rent from a free tenant held of Henry de Ferariis by knight’s service. Stretton. A lordship with two views of frankpledge and pleas and perquisites of a court farmed at 50s. yearly, (held) of Henry de Ferariis, service unknown. Heir as above, aged 30 years and more. The said John charged the said manor of Boseworth to Master Robert de Ayliston in 10l. yearly rent, and in two robes with fur, price 10l.; also to Richard de Harecourt in 10l. yearly rent; to Henry de Harecourt in 16l. yearly rent; to William de Charneles in 30s. and a robe price 20s. yearly; and to Simon le Hoppere of Boseworth in 100s. yearly rent, and a robe price 20s., and in fitting sustenance for himself, his groom and horse, for his life. OXFORD. Memorandum by the escheator that he has sent no extent of the manor of Staunton Harecourt, which was of the said John, because the bailiffs of Isabella, queen of England, immediately after the said John’s death entered upon the said manor, asserting it to be held of the said queen as of her manor of Wodestoke. Wednesday the feast of the Annunciation, 21 Edw. I. Boseworth. The manor (extent given), including parks called ‘le Holde park,’ and ‘le Southwode,’ pasture called ‘le Heye,’ a market, rents of 2 1/2lb. pepper, 2 pairs of gloves, a root of ginger, a clove gillyflower, 3 arrows without feathers (sine flech’), 8 horse-shoes, 10 hens, a cock and a rose, perquisites of the courts of Stretton, Kynelingworth and Guldene Morton, which pertain to the said manor, and 14s. 10d. and issues of a court in Schepeye and Muth, held of Sir John Comin, earl of Bowhan and lord of Wyteworth, co. Leicester, one of the heirs of Roger de Quincy sometime earl of Winchester, by homage and service of 6d. yearly, and doing scutage when it runs, for 1 knight’s fee. The same Richard, half a year and more before his death, enfeoffed his son Henry de Harecourt and Eleanor his wife of 24l. yearly rent out of the said manor, whereof they were seised of 16l. in his lifetime. John his eldest son, aged 18 at the feast of All Saints last, is his next heir. OXFORD. Inq. 12 April, 21 Edw. I. Staunton. The manor (extent given), including a water-mill and fishery, held of the king in chief by service of a knight’s fee, and mowing, lifting, carrying and stacking a meadow in the king’s park of Wodestok called Staunton meadow, strewing (prosternendi) ivy for the deer in the same park and paying 11s. 2d. yearly at the king’s exchequer by the hands of the sheriff of Oxford.
