John Harington, (1328-1363), 2nd Baron Harington, of Aldingham, Furness, Lancashire, was an English peer, who inherited the title Baron Harington in 1347 on the death of his grandfather John Harington, 1st Baron Harington (1281-1347).
«b»Origins«/b»
He was the son of Sir Robert Harington (died 1334), who predeceased his father. His mother was Elizabeth Multon (born 1306), daughter of Thomas Multon and one of the three sisters and co-heiresses of John Multon. She was the heir of several estates including Thurston in Suffolk; Moulton, Skirbeck and Fleet in Lincolnshire, Egremont in Cumbria and -manors in County Limerick, Ireland. Elizabeth outlived her husband and in about 1334 remarried to Walter Bermingham.

In 1353 he confirmed the agreement made by his grandfather with the Abbot of Furness Abbey, his feudal overlord at Aldingham. In 1355 he nominated an attorney to act for him in Ireland, where he had inherited lands in County Limerick from his mother. John Harington was granted a lease of the manor of Hornby by Henry of Grosmont, 1st Duke of Lancaster and also held the manors of Bolton-le-Moors, Chorley and Aighton. In 1358 he moved to London to take part in services for king Edward III.
«b»Marriage and children«/b»

«b»Death and burial«/b»
He died on 28 May 1363 at his seat Gleaston Hall in the manor of Aldingham, and was buried in Cartmel Priory in Lancashire.

The manor of Farleton came to te Haringtons of Aldingham, and in 1306 the manor was in dispute between John son of Robert de Harington and John son of Walter de Cansfield. [De Banco R. 161, m. 87.] This manor was granted to a younger son, who made it his residence, [Final Conc, ii, 195] and was known as Sir John de Harrington of Farleton; by his wife Katherine he had portions of the manors of Bolton-le-Moors, Chorley and Aighton. Sir John died in 1359 holding the manor of Farleton of John de Harrington of Aldingham by the service of a rose yearly and performing suit at the court of Hornby from three weeks to three weeks, the manor being held of Robert de Nevill of Hornby by knight's service. [Inq. p.m. 36 Edw. III, pt. i, no. 99] Robert de Harrington, the son and heir, died abroad in 1361, his heir being a younger brother Nicholas, aged sixteen years. [Inq. p.m. 36 Edw. III, pt. i, no. 99; Cal. Close, 1364'968, p. 219] William son of Nicholas by his marriage acquired the lordship of Hornby, but in 1411 made a settlement of the paternal manors of Farleton, Chorley, &c. [B.M. Add. Chart. 20515] From this time the manor is recorded among the Hornby manors, as in the Mounteagle inquisitions and later [Hist. MSS. Com. Rep. ix, App. ii, 86; Private Act, 29 & 30 Chas. II, cap. 3] ; it also was claimed and apparently held by the heirs male of the Harrington family.
