Sir John Constable 0f Halsham was the son of Sir John Constable of Halsham by his wife Albreda Bulmer and he married Maud daughter of Sir Robert Hilton of Swyne in Holderness. He was born in the year 1337, vel cice served in the army before Paris in 1360, was a commissioner of Array for the East Riding Yorkshire in 1378 - 1799 and 1383 - 4; joined the expedition which marched against Scotland in 1385 and died in 1407. The year 1394 has hitherto been considered as the date of death.
