  Sir Miles de Stapilton of Hathelsay [Haddlesey], had Carelton, Stapleton, Kirkby Fletham etc.; aged 24, 1343; summon to Parliament as baron 32 Ed III, 1358/9; Escheator of Yorkshire; was high sheriff of Yorkshire in 1355, and for five years successively, and as such conveyed David Bruce, King of Scotland, as prisoner from Newcastle to London after the battle of Nevill’s Cross (Devon’s Issue Rolls of Exchequer); paid relief in 1348, on which occasion the descent is detailed; died 13762; will proved 5 Jan 1372 (Test. Ebor.); to be buried at Drax; licence to celebrate in an oratory infra vallem de Kentmere to Sir Miles de Stapilton. Inq p.m. 46 Ed III.
  
  Married Isabel Vavasour, daughter of Sir Henry Vavasour of Haslewood and Annabell FitzHugh.
