Cokayne, G.E., _The Complete Peerage_, Vol. XII, pt. 1, p. 343-4: Fulk leStrange was aged 18 on 2 Feb 1348/49. He married (contractdated 12 Mar 1346/47) Elizabeth, daughter of Ralph de Stafford, 1st Earl of Stafford, by his second wife, Margaret, daughter and heir ofHugh de Audley, Earl of Gloucester. He died without male issue 30 Aug1349. Elizabeth married secondly to Sir John de Ferrers and third,Reynold de Cobham, 2nd Lord Cobham. She died 7 Aug 1375. Fulk and Elizabethhad two daughters who were infants at their father's death, Joan, whomarried John Careless or Carless, and Eleanor, who married Edward de Acton. However, a Hampton jury found that Fulk had died without heir ofhis body and declared his younger brother John to be his heir.
=== Elizabeth Stafford ===
McFarlane and CP do not have her married until 12 March 1347, which throws off my hole "order-of-marriage indicates order-of-birth" theory. But a little digging in the PRO reveals the marriage contract was negotiated
much earlier:
E 326/6114 Indenture recording the delivery by Wm. Legh to Hugh Burgh
of the u/m documents:- (1) An indenture of 16 Edw. III relating to the
marriage of Fulk son of John Staunge of Whitchurch with Eliz. daughter
of Ralph, baron of Stafford. (2) A deed of 18 Edw. III in which John
le Staunge, lord of WHitchurch, enfeoffed Bartholomew de Berdefeld,
parson of Ightfield (Ithtefeld), of the manor and advowson of
Whitchurch. [c.18 Ric II]
The above indicates that Elizabeth's marriage to Fulk le Strange was
planned and agreed on as early as 1342 - though not apparently
finalized/celebrated until 12 March 1347. Elizabeth's portion was
f1,000 and the jointure 200 marks a year.
Afer arranging Ralph's (son) her father arranged the second
marriage of his daughter Elizabeth, the underage widow of Fulk le
Strange, to John de Ferrers of Chartley. This was in 1349 and I need
to research what the details of the marriage terms were. It is
unlikely Ralph provided Elizabeth a marriage portion, as she was
well-endowed at that point with dower from the Strange lands.

He married, 1stly, Elizabeth, widow of John, 4th LORD FFRRERS of Chartley (who died 2 April 1367), and before that of Fulk (LE STRANGE), LORD STRANGE (of Blackmere), daughter of Ralph (DE STAFFORD), 1st EARL OF STAFFORD, by Margaret, daughter and heir of Hugh (D'AUDLEY), EARL OF GLOUCESTER. She died 7 August 1376. [Complete Peerage III:353-4, XIV:196, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
Note: the death date for Elizabeth de Stafford given above, "7 Aug 1376", does not agree with CP V:314 and AR, line 61-33, which give "7 Aug 1375". As the 1375 date is supported by a note (g) in V:314, I assume the 1376 date is a misprint.
--------------------He [John de Ferrers] married (royal licence, 1 October 1349) Elizabeth, daughter of Ralph (De STAFFORD), EARL OF STAFFORD, by his 2nd wife, Margaret, daughter and heir of Hugh (DAUDELEYE), EARL of GLOUCEST-ER. She had married 1stly (contract dated 12 March 1346/7]I, she then under 13, Fulk LESTRAUNGE (son and heir of Sir John LESTRAUNGE, of Whitchurch, Salop, [LORD LESTRAUNGE]], who was born 2 February 1330/1, and died s.p., 6 September (or 22 or 30 August) 1349, during the pestilence, aged 18. Sir John de Ferrers died beyond seas, 2 or 3 April, being, probably, slain at the battle of Najera, 3 April 1367. The manors, which he and his wife had held jointly at his death, and those held in her right of which she had been jointly enfeoffed with her 1st husband, were liberated to her, 24 June and 20 August 1367. She married, 3rdly, as 1st wife, Sir Reynold DE COBEHAM, of Sterborough, Surrey [Lord COBEHAM]. She died 7 August 1375. - Title: Appendix I of "Ancestors and Descendants of John Price: Immigrant to Virginia: 1610-11"
Note: Although the book is compiled by Vina Chandler Price, Appendix I was included at the request of Mrs. Margaret Scruggs Carruth, and was researched by Miss Kett and by Mr. H. E. Forrest (after the death of Miss Kett, which took before 1930). Both Miss Kett and Mr. Forrest were reputed to be professional genealogists. Mr Forrest is also referred to as the "Antiquarian Editor" of the Shrewsbury Chronicle
I looked H. E. Forrest online and found that he is also the editor of the following books:
--"Shrewsbury Burgess Roll", published in 1924 by the Shrewsbury and Shropshire Archaeological and Parish Register Society
--"The old Churches of Shrewsbury: Their History, Architecture and Associations", published in 1920 by Shrewsbury, Wilding & Son
--"Some Old Shropshire Houses and their Owners: Braggington (with a plate), Dinthill, Whitley, & Play-Y-Court", published in 1915 by Shropshire Archaeological & Natural History Society.
Margaret Scruggs Carruth is a charter member of "Daughters of the Barons of Runnemede". She served as Registrar when it was first organized, and is listed as member #22. To be eligible for membership, a person must descend from one or more of the Barons of Runnemede. The Barons forced King John to agree to the Magna Carta, a charter constituting a fundamental guarantee of rights and privileges. Mrs. Scruggs claims eligibility for membership through John Price who supposedly descended from eleven of the Barons.
Appendix I provides two different lineages. One is from Robert Fitzwalter (who was one of the Barons of Runnemede) to John Price (born 1584-5), and the titular character of this book. The 2nd is from Elystan Glodrydd app Cyhelin ap Ifor (933-1010) (who was Prince of Ferlllys and founder of the Fourth Royal Tribe of Wales) back to the same John Price.
Page: On pg. 517 (13th Gen), Elizabeth is identified as the daughter of Ralph (1st Earl of Stafford K.G.) and Margaret d'Audley); the wife of John de Ferrers; and the mother of Robert de Ferrers.
