=== Some background information concerning Euphemia de Clavering, spouse of Sir Ralph Neville ===
Historical records do not all agree on the parentage of Euphemia de Clavering [See documents in the Memories section]. The Dictionary of National Biography; Burke's Dormant, Abeyant, Forfeited and Extinct Peerages of the British Empire; Burke's General and Heraldic Dictionary of the Peerages of England, Ireland and Scotland and Dugdale's the Baronage of England, in discussing the Neville family, all suggest Euphemia is the daughter of John de Clavering.
However, the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy reports that Euphemia is the daughter of Robert FitzRoger de Clavering and the sister of John de Clavering. Dugdale's the Baronage of England, in discussing the Clavering family, does not mention Euphemia, but does report John de Clavering and his wife Hawise de Tibetot had only one daughter named Eve, but not a daughter named Euphemia. Long before John de Clavering's death in 1332, part of his estate inherited from his father, Robert FitzRoger de Clavering, passed to Sir Ralph Neville, spouse of Euphemia, reportedly because John had no male heirs.
From the reported dates of birth and death of both John de Clavering and Euphemia de Clavering, it appears that she could not be the John's daughter and could only have been John's sister, both of them being children of Robert FitzRoger de Clavering and Margaret La Zouche.
