  Biography
  Joan probably was born circa 1280, the daughter of Sir Roger Huntingfield of Huntingfield, Suffolk and his wife, Joyce d'Engaine, the daughter of John d'Engaine.
  
  She married Sir Richard Basset, 1st Lord Basset of Weldon, son of Ralph Basset and Alianore de la Wade, circa 1299. As her dowry, Joan brought to the marriage the manor of Wilstone in Tring, Hertfordshire.
  
  Joan and Sir Richard had three sons:
  1.) Sir Ralph Basset, 2nd Lord Basset
  
  2.) Richard Basset
  
  3.) Robert Basset

  Birth Date
  Joan's birth date is unknown; the current estimate is based on the known birth date (1300) of her son, Ralph.
  
  Death
  Joan's father died sometime before 5 December 1302 when an Inquisition Post Mortem was conducted. Joan is not mentioned in that IPM, but neither is her brother, Roger, who was alive at that time. Joan's husband died a prisoner after the battle of Bannockburn, which was fought on 24 June 1314. There is no existent IPM for Sir Ralph's death, and thus there is no evidence if she was still alive as of that date.
