Ancestor of Mure's of Caldwell.(In some records also named as Robert or Rankin Mure of Cowdams and Cameskan).
Other records have him as a son of Sir Adam Mure and Joanna Danielstoun ,but papers presented to the Maitland Club ,by Sir William Mure of Caldwell,in 1854,state he was the uncle of this Adam ,and grand uncle to Adams daughter Elizabeth ,who married King Robert II.
He obtained the barony of Abercorn via his marriage to the Heiress Graham,daughter of John Graham,whose sister,Isobel Graham ,was the first wife of Walter Stewart,father of Robert II.
Reginald received the lands of Tullybardine (previously owned by Sir Andrew Murray-who was forced forfiet the lands for being found guilty of treachery at the battle of Dupplin in 1332) The acquisition of these lands earned Sir Reginald the reputation as the wealthiest subject in Scotland Sir Reginald left two sons,Sir William ,who succeeded to Abercorn, and Gilchrist,of Cowdam.
