=== Life Sketch ===
The Life Summary of George
When George Abernethy 5th of Saltoun was born on 1 April 1340, in Haddington, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, his father, George Abernethy 4th of Saltoun, was 25 and his mother, Alicia Wishart, was 17. He had at least 1 son with Mary Graham. He died on 27 August 1388, in Otterburn, Northumberland, England, at the age of 48, and was buried in Otterburn, Northumberland, England.
From Wikitree-
Biography
George Abernethy was the eldest son and heir of Sir George Abernethy and Alicia Wishart.
He was probably the person of that name who attended the coronation of Robert II. on 27 March 1371, suggesting his father had died prior.
George de Abernethy, miles, dominus de Sauylton, was a witness to a charter of the lands of Longformacus 22 June 1384, and on 8 November 1391 King Robert II. confirmed to Sir William Stewart of Jedworth certain lands in the territory of Minto, resigned in his favour by Sir George de Abernethy.
Balfour Paul notes that there is often confusion between him and his father but, that given the dates associated with the Charters, he can be distinguished from the George Abernethy that married Alicia Wishart.
In 1388 he was apparently killed in action at Scottish victory over English of Otterburn. This is sourced from Jean Froissart's Chronicles in which he claims to have interviewed veterans from both sides of the battle. In these he mentions Seigneur de Faucon whose is believed to be Abernethy of Saltoun. His wife's name is not provided in source. He is believed to have had one son:
1.) William de Abernethy. Probably born not later than 1365, if he is the person who witnessed a charter granted by Sir James de Douglas, Lord of Dalkeith, in 1388.
