Other Titles: 4th of Menstrie, Chief of Clan Campbell, a.k.a.: Mac Cailein Mòr "Son of Colin the Great" Campbell, 10 February 1315. He gained the title of Lord of Lochow [feudal barony] on 10 February 1315, Hereditary Keeper of Dunoon Castle c. 1334.

Note: Knight, granted all the lands of Lochow, united with the lands of Ardsheodnish, in free barony 10 Feb 1315. He accompanied the expedition of King Robert I to Ireland in 1316 to win its throne for the King's brother, Edward Bruce, and in 1334 assisted Robert, 7th High Steward of Scotland, to recover the Castle of Dunoon from the English, following which he was appointed its heritable Keeper. Sir Colin Campbell is reported to have had also a natural son, Niall Campbell, ancestor of the Campbells of Melfort.
