  Mathias (Matthew) Emmanuel, the youngest son of Joannes Manuel, was born in Huettersdorf/Saar/Germany. He was called Rothkopf (Redhead) because of his red hair.
  
  He married three times. The first wife was Anna Muller, daughter of Johann Muller and Maria Didier. From this marriage there were three sons - Nikolaus, Mathias, and Joannes.
  
  After the death of his first wife, he married Anna Maria Reiser. As far as is known, there were no children of this marriage.
  
  Then Mathias married a third time to Maria Simon. To them were born four sons -- Joannes, Peter, Mathias, and Reinhard. These are our descendants.
  
  The family name Emmanuel, was later changed again, eliminating one "m". It was too much and too long to write in business matters.
  
  Court records revealed that in 1752 a lawsuit was brought against Mathias, for an event possibly following his marrage to Anna Mullor on Febuary 8. During the winter "Pagans *Gypsies) diffled in his house a few days and a few peasants lads danced to their music."
