His first wife Alice was the daughter and coheir of Warin Fitzhuh, sone of Hugh de Waren, by whom he had two sons, Sir William and a second son, Sir Thomas de Cloptone.
Alice's surname has also been shown as Fitzwaring, Fitzwarren, and other similar spellings/variants.
