Agnes married Sir Alexander de Cheney in 1268 restoring the lines ofdescent to the Cheney name. Sir Alexander is considered to be descendantof Ralf de Chesnay even though his ancestry is only traced Back as far asAlexander de Cheney a crusader who fought under King Richard Coer de Lion( Richard the Lionhearted) in 1190. Sir Alexander adopted the de Saye family Arms of "Quarterly Or andGules". which he modified by a label Argent. His immediate descendentsdid not bear these arms. Later generations of Cheneys, notably those ofFenn Ditton (Cambridge) and Boston (Lincolnshire) did bear SirAlexander's arms. Sir Alexander served in Ireland, during the conquestof Wales in 1280-1282 with his Father-in-law, Sir William de Saye andlater in Gascony under King Edward I. Sir Alexander and Agnes had a Sonnamed William.
