The Ulster College of Arms chart as given by the Herald in his Visitations of Ireland 1607 reads as follows: "Sir Richard de Tuyt, Knight assisted King Henry II in his Invasion of Ireland about the Year of Christ 1172 AD, obatained large Possessions in Meath from Hugo de Lacy 1173 AD and built a strong Fort at Granard in 1199 against the Incursions of O'Reilly. Anno 1210 he founded the Abby of Cistercians and being crushed to death the year following by the fall of a Turret at Athlone was buried in the said Abby."
