Note: ID: I09274 Name: Robert de WELLE , Escheator of Lindsey 1 Sex: M ALIA: Robert de /Welles/, Escheator of Lindsey Birth: ABT 1226 in Well, Spilsby, Lincolnshire, England Death: BEF 24 SEP 1265 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England 2 Note: Some genealogy lines in rootsweb have Robert married to Isabel de Vesci, dau of William de Vesci and Isabel de Periton. This would make Eustace de Vesci (Magna Charta Surety) an ancestor. I have chosen not to follow that line based on a note in "The Magna Charta Sureties" that Eustace's line died out after 4 generations, plus the entry from Complete Peerage that follows. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- ROBERT DE WELLE, son and heir, was possibly escheator in Lindsey, Lincs, in 1246. He was granted free warren in his demesne lands, 9 September 1251, and exemption from assizes, &c., February 1251/2. In April 1264 he had protections to join King Henry. He married Isabel, 2nd daughter and coheir of Adam DE PERITON, of Ellington, Northumberland, Faxton, Northants, and Rampisham, Dorset, probably by Sarah. He died shortly before 24 September 1265. His widow married, after 25 July 1266 and before 1269, William (DE VESCY), LORD VESCY, who died s.p.s. legitimate 19 July 1297. She died shortly before 5 January 1314/5 and was buried in Malton Priory, co. York.
